Home Expert Advice Hammocks Product Care Rope & Fabric Hammocks

DFOhome.com’ products can be used outdoors, however, the more exposure they receive to the elements, such as sun, rain, and cold temperatures, the faster the product will weather. To extend the life of your product, we have compiled a few tips on how to clean and care for your hammock and stand. Routine cleaning can greatly extend the life of your hammock.

Cotton rope or cotton fabric

Cotton hammocks can be washed using mild detergent, a soft scrub, and a garden hose. If your hammock has a spreader bar, try to keep the out of the water as much as possible. If needed, let the hammock soak in a bathtub or a children's pool. Let your hammock air dry rather than hanging the hammock up to dry, as this can stretch the cotton. It is important to keep cotton clean, as it is a very fragile material.

Polyester rope

Polyester hammocks can be washed using an Oxy Clean solution, a soft scrub, and a garden hose. If your hammock has a spreader bar, try to keep the out of the water as much as possible. If needed, let the hammock soak in a bathtub or a children's pool. Remove the rope from the spreader bars only if you feel comfortable putting it back together. Let your hammock air dry rather than hanging the hammock up to dry, as this can stretch the hammock.

Sunbrella and dyed acrylic fabric

These fabrics can be washed using mild detergent, a soft scrub, and a garden hose. It is important to keep these fabrics clean to ensure durability. The fabrics themselves are mildew resistant, but the dirt that can accumulate on them can mildew. Let the hammock air dry.

DuraCord rope and fabric

Amazingly enough, DuraCord fabric can be washed using bleach water. Cleaning is as simple as washing the hammock briskly with mild soapy water and rinsing with a garden hose. Let the hammock air dry.
