Home Expert Advice Hammocks Buying Guides Camping Hammocks

Watch us unpack two brands of camping hammocks, and read on for more details.

ENO Double Nests: Colorful, Durable, and Compact

ENO (Eagle's Nest Outfitters) have been a major name in the camping hammock industry for years. Their trademark hammocks are constructed of breathable, colorful nylon that's surprisingly strong. Like Hennessy, they can handle weights of up to 400 lbs.

Their hammocks pack lighter than Hennessy's on average, but keep in mind that they don't come standard with a rain-shielding tarp, or hanging straps. For that reason, you'll pay less for an ENO individually, which is great if you already have a tarp/hanging cables at your disposal.

ENO camping hammocks pack down to about the size of the softball, but again, be prepared to furnish the hanging straps and tarp you'll need separately. Buy hanging straps.

Both Hennessy and ENO camping hammocks come with a one-year warranty against manufacturer defects.

Hennessy: Everything You Need to Hit the Trails, in One Simple Package

Hennessy Hammocks run slightly higher in price, but they pack in a great deal of value. Every Hennessy comes equipped with a rainfly, hanging straps, and bug net, included in one compact bag which weighs at most slightly over 3 pounds. This bag even includes enough rope to hang from trees at a distance from 12-25 feet, giving you a lot of flexibility in choosing a camp site. You will still need an underquilt, sleeping bag, foam pads, etc. in order to maximize comfort and regulate temperature.

When it comes to dimensions, bigger is always better -- you don't want to feel cramped in your hammock. If you're over six feet tall, definitely opt for the Safari Deluxe Hammock. Smaller individuals will find lighter variations going down to about 9 feet in total length on our Camping Hammocks page.
