Celebrate Earth Day with Earth-Friendly Outdoor Products

feature

Earth Day started in 1970, and Americans were driving around in their gas guzzling SUVs. Industries produced sludge and smoke without fear of consequence from environmental agencies. Because there weren’t any agencies to keep the factories to a standard. On April 22, 1970 millions Americans took to the streets, parks, and auditoriums to demonstrate for a healthy, sustainable environment in massive rallies. Thousands of colleges and universities organized protests against the deterioration of the environment. Earth Day quickly became a holiday that is celebrated world wide.

Here at DFO we like to do our part in keeping the environment safe. One of the was we do that is by selling products that are environmentally friendly. The Pawleys Island patio furniture is made from Poly Lumber material which is also known as HDPE. HDPE stands for High-Density PolyEthylene, a polymer (plastic) designed to look and feel like wood. HDPE is all around you: in hula hoops, milk bottles, water pipes, and bottle caps. About 90% of the HDPE material in your furniture is recycled from items like these. The Pawleys Island outdoor furniture never require painting: they’re dyed to the core during extrusion. They’re also infused during that process with UV-inhibitors, ensuring a lifetime of vivid colorfastness under the sun. Find your favorites with a lifetime warranty by Pawleys Island furniture.

We also have a selection of rugs that are made from recycled plastics. Go green with these eco-friendly and reversible favorites! But they’re more than just “Green“: plastic mats are the most moisture-friendly mats around, making them great poolside, kitchen-side, or on uncovered porches and patios. Nothing outperforms recycled plastic outdoor mats in uncovered outdoor spaces, where exposure to rain is a concern.

Recycled plastic mats possess a unique texture that’s soft yet firm, easy on feet but hard to get dirty. Capable of holding up even in spaces that get a lot of foot traffic, these mats are hardily constructed of 100% polypropylene fibers. And cleaning couldn’t be easier: simply hose your mat down and you’re good to go. Just when you thought this is all, I have to tell you that these mats are reversible! You can update the look of your space by simply reversing your recycled plastic rug!

My recommendation is the Tangier Carrot and White Outdoor Mat by Fab Habitat. This rug is available in 4 different sizes from 3’ by 5’ to 6’ by 9’. Its curvaceous design suggests a Moroccan theme in beautiful carrot-white colors. Spruce up the living room or kitchen with this rug, or embrace the exotic side by adorning it with some Sunbrella outdoor pillows.

We not only want to recycle to help out the planet, we also think it is important to try and prevent any damage to the wildlife. With that being said, we offer some tree straps that you can use to hang your hammock easily between two strong trees or sturdy posts. You can save money on stands and create a more natural scenic look with our so-very-easy-to-use Pawleys Island Hammocks Tree Straps. The highly portable heavy-duty straps of all-weather nylon webbing simply wrap around an adult tree, connecting to your hammock with an attached zinc-plated-steel S-hook.
